This class teaches you the basics of applying interfacing and making this simple but versatile drawstring tote. It is fully lined with two internal pockets, one with a Kam snap closure. Included in this workshop is a valuable session on how to use the rotary blades effectively and safely. It is a great class for sewists who are entering the basic bag making.

- Suitable for confident beginner level. Students MUST be able to operate a sewing machine in order to join this class. Students would have completed basic projects.
- Please arrive 5 mins before the scheduled time.

What You’ll Learn:
* Laying out pattern & cutting the fabric
* Introduction to using interfacing
* Sewing the Drawstring Tote with 2 internal pockets
* How to top stitch and install Kam snaps
* Bonus session: Safe & effective use of rotary blades, quilting rulers & cutting mats
* Drawstring tote – approx height is 38cm excluding handles, total width 42cm. Gusset depth is 10cm
2. Cotton for the lining – 1/2 yard (45cm) length x fabric width (minimum 112cm)
3. A lightweight to medium interfacing – 3/4 yard (or 70cm) length x 112cm wide. Suggest SMH interfacing item code 250F.
4. Thread & bobbin(s) for the sewing machine. Bring your thread colour(s) for the outer fabric and the lining fabric.
5. 2 meters of cotton cord (5mm wide). Please pre-shrink before bringing to class. You also have the option to buy pre-shrunk cotton cord from the instructor (please inform the teacher 3 days before the class date).
6. Kam snaps & use of Kam snap tool will be provided in class.
